From Stump to Snoopy

The Peanuts transformation of a tree.
We (ECC Committee members Brian and Carol) recently moved into a new home to house our ever expanding Peanuts collection. With the property came a large dying tree which was starting to drop branches, make a mess and could be a potential hazard in the future. Rather than just have the tree cut down to the ground, we decided to do something fun and creative. We had the tree service leave a seven foot section of the tree standing and enlisted a local chainsaw carving artist, Zoli, to work his craft. Working from images on his cell phone and a couple of pieces from our collection Zoli was able to find his inspiration. Over the course of a sunny morning, Snoopy appeared out of the inside of the stump. Snoopy is there to greet the people of our neighborhood and visitors to our home. The carving is now a fun highlight of our front yard and we have gotten a lot of positive comments.
Zoli works out of Monroe, WI and services northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin during the summer months. During the winter he has done some work in Florida. If you would like to see some Zoli’s other works of art use the link below to take you to his website. You can also find him on Facebook at Zoli’s Woodcarving.
