An ECC Beagle Party Convention
August 4th thru 7th, 2016
King of Prussia, PA
Presidential elections can bring out the best, as well as the worst in people in addition to being a little tiring. This year East Coast Collectors thinks they should also bring out a little joy. We are proud to announce our 16th ECC weekend and invite you to the Beagle Party Convention taking place August 4rd through August 7th. Yes, here at ECC we believe we should be electing the one person (well, dog really) who can make a difference. We say Snoopy for President!!
Our Beagle Party Convention will return us to Pennsylvania for the first time since 2012. We will once again be visiting King of Prussia, PA, a place that has been popular with attendees in the past. Located just off the PA turnpike, the hotel is easily accessible by air and auto. The area has an abundance of great activities. It is home to one of the largest malls in the United States. There are also multiple historic sites to visit. Valley Forge National Historic Park and the downtown Philadelphia historic district are both a short drive away. The downtown historic district includes such great sights as Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and many other great things to do.
Our host hotel will be the DoubleTree Hotel Philadelphia - Valley Forge. This is a beautiful property that we visited once before in 2010. We had a lot of great feedback from attendees about this hotel and it looks like they have made improvements since. Attendees can enjoy a rate of $109 (plus tax, double occupancy) which is good from August 3rd through August 8th. To make reservations you can call the hotel directly at (800) 879-8372 or use this link, DoubleTree ECC reservations. For better service please call the hotel directly instead of the national number. Remember to mention "East Coast Snoopy Collectors" to make sure you get the event rate. Rooms do tend to fill up fast so don't wait too long.
The last two events have included a fabulous “pre-event” Thursday outing. This year will be no different. We have found a hidden gem just minutes away from the hotel that we think will speak to the collector in all of us, The American Treasure Tour (ATT). ATT is a collection of collections belonging to a single, secret private collector. You will see Americana from antiques to kitsch to pop culture. Located in a pristine, former tire factory the myriad nostalgia-inducing items number in the tens of thousands (including some Snoopy’s) and are separated into related groups across the 100,000 square foot facility. In addition to the 90 minute tour by tram will also be a meal for our attendees. If you thought your collection was big, you need to see this. You will be amazed!
All of the favorite activities people have come to know and love will be taking place over the weekend. We will be bringing back the ever popular SPIKE bingo (where you can win some cool Peanuts prizes), the raffle and bake sale during registration, all benefiting CCI. The Scavenger Hunt and other fun contests will be returning during the meals. Don’t forget the door prizes either. There will also be some great items during our silent auction on Friday and our voice auction on Saturday. If you haven’t been to one of our voice auctions you are missing an incredible time. (We have had a fuzzy toilet seat cover go hundreds of dollars!!) All of this plus the market and room sales where you can find those items you didn’t realize you can’t live without.
The successes of our events have always relied on you, our attendees. All of attendees always bring an energy and enthusiasm to our events. Many have helped in the past by volunteering, which is great way to meet other collectors. There is a form on the side opposite the registration form for those of you interested in volunteering this year. It can be filled out when you send back your registration or you can let us know if you would like to help out and what you are willing to do by email.
Donations for silent or voice auctions and door prizes are currently being accepted also. ALL donations must be mailed ahead of time or arranged before the event. We ask that you refrain from donating very small type items such as Whitman's plush or PVC's, books or other very low value items. To donate, please email snoopyeastcoast@aol.com or call Susan Van Slyke at (315) 708-2255. Please leave a message. The donation deadline is July 1st.
